HANDLING AND FREIGHT POLICY

In an effort to simplify and clarify our charges for freight and handling, the following policy applies:

  • All shipments will be shipped via common carrier, UPS, or FedEx Freight. Orders will be assessed for packaging materials required to ship (the cost of packaging materials has already been included in the "total Shipping Charge" you see at check-out. All freight will be prepaid.)
  • If the order is large or has large items, we will ship it on a pallet with a common LTL freight carrier.
  • LTL freight / pallet deliveries:  Any damage to the outer packaging must be noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery and brought to the driver’s attention. Please take photos and save all packaging materials in case a freight damage claim is filed.
  • UPS small-parcel deliveries: UPS packages are typically delivered to your door without a signature. If your package arrives damaged, please photograph the box and contents and contact us within five business days so we can assist with the next steps. Keep the packaging if we request it for inspection.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS

All of our products are custom-crafted from natural wood. Because all of our products are custom-made to your order sizes, returns are not possible. Please review the important guidelines about our products before they are delivered.

Nature of Natural Wood

Because of its nature, wood will expand and contract. Changes in temperature, humidity, and other conditions produce wood movements. Wood is like a sponge; even when finished, it will pick up moisture and easily expand in mountain and coastal regions, causing wood to warp, twist, or crack. It will dry out and easily shrink in desert regions, causing wood to warp, twist, or crack. Consequently, proper precautions must be taken during storing, handling, and finishing operations.

Finishing and Sealing Doors Promptly

To preserve and enhance the quality and beauty of our unfinished wood products, we strongly recommend finishing and sealing doors promptly. We recommend finishing within 2 weeks of receiving the doors. If you choose to paint our products, remember that due to the lack of elasticity in the paint, it is likely that you will see cracks in the paint as the wood expands and contracts with the changes in humidity. These cracks will be most evident on the joints of the doors and the space between the panel and the stiles and rails.

Unfinished wood needs protection from moisture and from extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Construction sites may vary in temperature between 30 and 50 degrees from day to night, causing warping, swelling, or twisting of unfinished doors within 24 hours. While finishing to help protect wood products, the wood will still react to humidity changes.

Please note: You may need to perform extra sanding steps when using darker stains or glazing applications.

Before Delivery

Before doors are delivered, have all windows and exterior doors in place and bring the house to occupancy level conditions. Make sure all new drywall and plaster have had at least 2 weeks to dry.

Many jobs are finished on site, where doors are not removed from the cabinet before finishing. This causes unfinished top rails on upper cabinets and unfinished bottom rails on lower cabinets. This allows moisture to be absorbed through the unfinished portion of the door, causing swelling, warping, and twisting.

Damage That’s Not Considered Defects

  • Under no circumstances should unfinished millwork be delivered to a job or site that is under construction and open to the elements.
  • Doors should not be subjected to abnormal heat, cold, extreme dryness, humid conditions, or sudden changes therein.
  • The entire door must receive two coats of a good-grade finish. Completely and evenly finish ALL PIECES. (front, back, top, bottom, sides, and all cutouts.)

CabinetDoors.com will not be held responsible for damage due to these situations. These are not considered defects.

INTERNET ORDERS

All items are custom-made to the customer's specifications; therefore, cancellations or changes to orders in process are subject to a charge to be determined by the factory at the time of the request.

Production Time

After 8 hours, the order will be in production, and changes will not be possible. If the order is canceled within 8 hours, a 15% or $100 ( whichever is less) order processing fee will apply.

Lead Time

The general lead time for orders is around 14-16 Calendar days, depending on the time of year. Shipment by ground will usually take from 1-to-5 days, depending on distance.

  • Unfinished doors: ~4 weeks production (≈20 business days).
  • Painted doors: ~6–8 weeks production (≈30–40 business days, including curing).

Ground shipping typically adds 1–5 business days, depending on destination; LTL freight may take longer. Timeframes begin after order confirmation/payment (and final approvals, if applicable) and may extend for large/complex orders, holidays, or peak seasons. If you have a firm need-by date, note it at checkout and we’ll confirm feasibility.

Payments

Payment is required before the order can be placed in production, since each order is custom-made to your specifications.

Shipment

Upon receiving your shipment, please inspect it for damage. Any product received damaged should be noted on the delivery slip and signed by the driver. A copy should then be emailed to us at sales@CabinetDoors.com. The customer is responsible for checking their delivered order immediately for any shortages or discrepancies and is responsible for contacting us at sales@CabinetDoors.com within 24 hours to report discrepancies.

Corrections

ANY corrections or discrepancies reported after the 2-day deadline from the delivery date will be assessed a $15 administrative fee, or the cost of the correction, whichever is greater.

POLICIES AND WARRANTY

Once our products are received, it is impossible for us to monitor the conditions under which they are kept.

CabinetDoors.com manufactures and ships unfinished and finished wood products nationwide. Claims on any order or material discrepancies must be made within twenty-four hours after receipt of the order & before HINGING, HANGING, or FINISHING.

Once a product is hinged, hung, or finished, it is considered accepted for appearance; the 1-year warranty for manufacturing defects (including excessive warping) remains in effect when our guidelines have been followed. Exposure to moisture, heat, sun, job-site neglect, improper installation/finishing, or other modifications is not covered. If our product is handled in accordance with our recommended guidelines, most problems will be minimized.

WARRANTY QUALIFICATIONS

Raw doors must be stored in an enclosed area and not be subject to abnormal heat, cold, dryness, humidity, or direct sunlight. Raw doors must not be stored in damp areas such as freshly plastered buildings, open garages, recently tiled counters or floors, etc. Doors must be completely finished on all six surfaces (front, back, top, bottom, and both sides) with equal amounts of sanding sealer and top coat.

TWO-WEEK FINISH REQUIREMENT

It should be noted that we cannot be held responsible for warpage caused by environmental conditions in the final location of our products. These conditions are not within our control, and locations with extreme environmental conditions may require additional finishing procedures to prevent twisting or warping of wood products.

CabinetDoors.com warrants that all of our products will be reasonably defect-free in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of shipment. Burls, pin knots, mineral streaks, sap, etc., are natural characteristics found in wood; if these characteristics fall within CabinetDoors.com specifications, they will not be considered defects. Due to its inherent nature, wood will expand or contract depending on environmental conditions; CabinetDoors.com does allow for some wood movement. We will not be liable for damages caused by improper handling, storage, assembling, finishing, or installation by the customer.

LIMITATIONS

The warranty shall not apply to:

  1. Any defects caused, or repairs required as a result of misuse, abusive operation, negligence, accident, improper use or installation, and/or insufficient care.
  2. Any product tampered with by adjustment, altered, or repaired by any party other than CabinetDoors.com.
  3.  Any surface defects are caused by normal wear and tear and the natural aging process.
  4.  To the extent the law permits, for loss of time or use of the CabinetDoors.com product, installation and transportation costs necessary for the application of this warranty, or any other indirect or consequential damage or inconvenience.
  5. Slab doors (glued-up slabs over 8" wide or 24" high) are not a reliable door in areas of the country where large, rapid changes in humidity are common. Desert areas of California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico are especially unsuited for slab doors. For this reason, CabinetDoors.com does not offer slab doors.
  6. Warpage or twisting under 3/16" is acceptable and not a defect; at 3/16" or greater, it is considered defective and typically qualifies for replacement under this limited warranty (subject to all other terms).

SPECIAL EXCLUSIONS

Any door having a width of 24 inches or a height of 60 inches or more is expressly excluded from this limited warranty. Any Drawer front having a length of 33 inches or a width of 10 inches or more is expressly excluded from this limited warranty.

GUARANTEE

Products must be inspected upon receipt. Our guarantee covers the replacement of doors and drawer fronts (except slab doors, which are not guaranteed and are discouraged) in an unfinished state and in good condition, as originally delivered F.O.B. our factory.

Any variation from our normal construction specifications is not guaranteed, i.e., reducing the thickness of the panel or frames. A warp or twist under 3/16" is acceptable and not a defect; 3/16" or more is considered defective and typically eligible for replacement. Twist is measured by placing the door face on a true flat plane and checking for lift at the corners.

Doors are manufactured to the nearest 1/16th of an inch with a tolerance of 1/16th of an inch. CabinetDoors.com will not be held responsible for delays caused by factors beyond our control. There are no other warranties of any kind, expressed or implied.
