Replacement Cabinet Doors
Here is a common complaint from folks looking for replacement cabinet doors.
"Cabinet Doors of the exact size I need are impossible to find, it seems that nobody stocks them".
Benefits of Having Replacement Cabinet Doors
Think of all the rooms in your home that have cabinets in them — kitchen, bathroom, office, rec room, mud room etc. After years of being opened, closed, touched, and cleaned, those doors can start to look very worn out, or at least out of style. However, behind that expired door is a cabinet that might still be perfectly sturdy and functional. There are lots of compelling reasons to use replacement kitchen cabinet doors instead of entirely new cabinets:
- Cost - Replacing only the cabinet doors costs much less than replacing kitchen cabinets entirely. With something like replacement bathroom cabinet doors, it doesn’t have to take a big budget to make a big impact.
- Commitment - Renovating a whole room can take weeks and cause a huge mess, but replacing just the cabinet doors is quick and causes hardly any disruption to your home. If you will have guests in your house sometime soon, you probably still have time to make a major home upgrade in the form of replacement doors.
- Complexity - If you like DIY projects but aren’t up for renovating your whole kitchen yourself, replacing your doors is both fun and manageable. The fact that it’s so easy also helps keep the costs down because you don’t have to hire a contractor.
- Consequence - Despite being accessible and affordable, replacement cabinet doors can transform an entire space, not just the cabinets. If you have a room that feels unpleasant or outdated, cabinet doors with a different finish and style may be all it needs.
Why Work With Cabinetdoors.com?
There is a reason we are considered the internet's leading source for replacement cabinet doors by designers, contractors, and homeowners across the country. We offer what others can’t or won’t:
Why is it so difficult to find Replacement Cabinet Doors of the exact size needed?
Here is the reason for the lack of available cabinet door sizes and the solution to finding the actual door sizes your project needs.
The problem finding doors of a specific size, is that there are no "standard" sizes of cabinets, or the doors they use. There are thousands of individual Custom Cabinet Makers across the country, and each one has his own Standard. That's why hardware stores don't stock replacements, there are just too many different sizes.
Here is the math that illustrates why stocking all cabinet door sizes, in all styles, is impossible.
Typical door widths are from 8-inches wide, to 30-inches wide.
This width-span would need to offer sizes from 8" to 30" in 1/16th inch increments, to fit all possible door-width needs.
The 1/16" steps, form 8 to 30-inches would require 352 different widths. (30 - 8 = 22 x 16 = 352)
The same math applies to door heights.
Typical height is from 8" to 60".
The 1/16" steps, from 8 to 60-inches would require 832 different heights. (60 - 8 = 52 x 16 = 832)
Multiplying the required widths by the required heights gives 292,000 door sizes. (352 x 832 = 292,864)
And that 292,000 door sizes would need to be stocked in each of the of the 40 most-popular door styles, and in ten different wood type.
That would require an inventory of over 117-million cabinet doors (assuming only one of each was stocked). (292,864 x 40 x 10 = 117,146,000)
That is why no stores can stock replacement cabinet doors!
You won't need to settle for sizes that are "close-to", or "almost the correct size".
When ordering from the actual factory, you can order the "exact size" you need, right down to the nearest 1/16-inch.
What the Factory offers
Instead of just making the 40-most popular styles, we offer over 400 door styles, and each one is available from the factory in 1/16” increments. And each style, in any size between the smallest, to the largest, hundreds of doors are available in any of the 10 wood types we offer!
The Web has made it possible for homeowners to accomplish what the National hardware chains can't. And that is to order any of the 117-million possible door sizes/styles/wood combinations available.
The factory doesn't stock all possible doors either, they make the doors when they are ordered and, because of manufacturing size and efficiency, we will build and ship your entire order in 7-10 business days.
The following size calculations and prices apply to our most popular Replacement Cabinet Door, The Shaker Cabinet Door.
The frame is Poplar or Maple, and the panel is Medium Density Fiberboard. The Paint-Grade Shaker is $12.72/SqFt. Pricing is shown in the example below.
Painted with Sherwin-Williams High-Reflective White Conversion Varnish. This painted Shaker is $32.75/sqft.
Color-Selected Oak, finished with Minwax Golden Oak stain and Clear Conversion Varnish. The unfinished price is $13.75/sqft.
Replacement Cabinet Doors come in Any Size you may need, and in steps of 1/16-inch.
So, If you need a Cabinet Door that's 12 7/16" wide by 27 15/16" high, that's no problem. The price of your door is calculated by the square-feet of the door's area. The calculation of the cost is shown below.
The example above, sized the Paint-Grade Shaker Door at 12 7/16 x 27 15/16 (area of 2.413 SqFt). At a cost-per-square-foot of $12.72 the cost for this door will be $12.72 x 2.413, or $30.69 each.
A door sized in even-inch dimensions makes the math easier to follow, but the price is figured the same way.
This Paint-Grade Shaker Cabinet Door is also priced at $12.72/SqFt.
With a size of 12" x 24" (an area of 2 sqft), it will cost $12.72 x 2, or $25.44 each.
So whether you need doors sized in even-inch increments or 1/16-inch increments, it doesn't make a difference to us, the price is still figured by the size of the door in square-feet. There is no extra charge for asking for sizes in 1/16-inch increments, we simply multiply (width x height / 144 = square-feet).
Here are a few of the over four-hundred cabinet door styles we make.
Inset panel doors, raised panel doors, Square doors, arched doors, Cope & Stick, Mitered, Glass-Frames, Unfinished doors, Painted doors, French-Light doors, 5-piece drawer fronts, and more.
Clicking on a door picture opens the product page where that door can be priced and ordered.
The major difference between door designs is construction method. Cope & Stick or Mitered..
Now that you've found the actual factory, your endless search for the door sizes you need is over.
We've been making cabinet doors for cabinet makers, home builders, remodelers, and national hardware chains for over 40-years, and now the web has allowed homeowners to find the actual source. You now have the option of skipping the retail mark-up, buying Factory-Direct, and saving 30-50%.
Remember, Big-Box stores don't make the doors they sell, they buy them from cabinet door factories. And now, you can too.

We ordered replacement doors for our 60-year-old home and were very pleased with the product. The milling was of the highest quality. The joinery was very well done, and the wood selection was obviously done by a professional who cares what the finished product looks like. It is one thing to assemble a project with technical skill, and another thing entirely to accomplish the assembly with an eye toward bringing the best out of the wood being used. Both aspects were accomplished, and at a very high level! The dimensions were absolutely perfect. Each door was correctly dimensioned to within less than 1/16 of an inch. It was very pleasing to see this attention to detail, especially since I took the time to measure my cabinets twice, making sure I had done my part. I had never worked with white birch before, and when I saw the issues with staining the wood (soft grain with blotchy absorption of the stain) I was a bit worried. I had no problems at all because the wood was of a higher quality white birch that had been properly handled at the mill and sanded to a stain-ready finish. A good sanding sealer was applied, and then the stain. The results were EXCELLENT! All-in-all, we received a great product, great advice and excellent customer service from CabinetDoors.com. We would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for cabinet doors. Nice job, everyone! Michael R.
